    Sound English language skills are required for academic programs at Monash University. Full documentary evidence in support of English Language Proficiency (ELP) must be submitted with applications for admission and scholarship. Monash University reserves the right to seek further documentary evidence of ELP. If an applicant's first language is not English (i.e. originate from a country where English is not the official primary language), the ELP must be satisfied in at least one of the following ways: Language of Instruction Successful completion of a course of tertiary studies within the last five years, of at least two years' duration, and entirely taught and formally assessed in English, from either: one of Monash University approved English language countries any Higher Education institution for which English is the only language of instruction, as confirmed in the World Higher Education database(WHED). Monash University's Malaysia or South Africa campus, or an equivalent Malaysian tertiary education campus recognised by Monash University. Successful completion of a two-year Monash University-Southeast University Double Masters coursework course. Academic entry requirements

  • All applicants must be able to demonstrate a capacity to carry out independent research and have adequate training and ability to pursue their proposed course of study. The minimum qualifications for admission to PhD enrolment are: a bachelor's degree requiring at least four years of full-time study in a relevant field, and which normally includes a research component in the fourth year, leading to an honours 1 or 2A in a relevant field; a course leading to a level rated by the relevant department, faculty and committee as equivalent to an honours 1 or 2A in a relevant field; a master's degree that entails work, normally including a significant research component, including at least 25% of one full time equivalent year of work, including a thesis. It is normally expected that a grade of honours 2A has been obtained for the research thesis or project. Where ungraded, examiners' reports will be taken into account; or have qualifications which in the opinion of GRC are deemed equivalent.
