Academic entry requirements

  • Applicants must present one of the following:A Bachelor degree or international equivalent with a minimum GPA of 6/7A Bachelor degree or international equivalent AND a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma with a minimum GPA of 5/7A Bachelor degree or international equivalent with GPA 5/7 AND a minimum of 3 years full-time equivalent work experience at ANZSCO Skill Level 1 in a field related to the program.The GPA for a Bachelor program will be calculated from (i) a completed Bachelor degree using all grades and/or (ii) a completed Bachelor degree using all grades other than those from the last semester (or equivalent study period) of the Bachelor degree. The higher of the two calculations will be used as the basis for admission.All applicants must meet the University’s English Language Admission Requirements for Students.Progression Requirements: Students must achieve a minimum 75% weighted average mark in the first 48 units of courses attempted (excluding languages courses) in order to remain enrolled in the Master of General and Applied Linguistics (Advanced). If the total number of units attempted exceeds 48 in the same teaching period in which the 48th unit is attempted, exactly 48 units will be used in the calculation of the weighted average mark with units from the course with the highest mark applied first followed by further units from courses in descending order of marks.Further Information: Students must submit a 1-2 page thesis proposal to their prospective supervisor prior to submitting a signed Thesis Supervisor Confirmation Form to the Master of General and Applied Linguistics (Advanced) Program Convenor. Students are advised to consult with the Program Convenor or Prospective Supervisor for additional details.
