About this course

The Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) program prepares you for a career in accounting, banking, financial management, information systems, business analytics and management. Compulsory courses will build a solid foundation of business skills that you will apply to many decisions and issues in the contemporary business environment. These core skills are further developed in your second and third years as you specialise by undertaking one or two majors. Completing the accounting major allows students to apply for associate membership of the professional accounting bodies. By combining the BCom with the Diploma in Languages (DipLang), students not only gain core business skills and specialist knowledge but also develop language and cultural proficiency, as well as many other transferable skills that are highly valued in the global marketplace. Through the DipLang component students can specialise in one language major or two language minors, providing a distinctive edge in the international business environment where demand for language capabilities is increasing. This dual qualification ensures that graduates are well-prepared to adapt effectively to the ever-changing business landscape, making them highly sought-after candidates for employers worldwide. Please note: Students who commence in Semester 2 may not be able to begin language studies until Semester 1. This will be dependent upon a student's previous language proficiency and the language(s) they nominate to undertake; the majority of introductory courses are offered in Semester 1 only each year. Students should contact the School of Languages and Cultures Students Administration team for advice.
