Academic entry requirements

  • Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification, an Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma, or an equivalent Australian or overseas qualification at the required level. Enrolled Nurses (ENs) who are registered with AHPRA and have completed their Diploma of Nursing in 2011 or after are eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Nursing. ENs registered with AHPRA who completed a Diploma of Nursing prior to 2011 may also be eligible for admission. These applicants are advised to contact AskUTS to have their academic transcripts reviewed by the Course Directors before applying. Successful EN applicants will receive Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for the first year of the course, streamlining their transition into the program. This means they can complete the course in less time, depending on the credit granted. Students who receive RPL for prior studies are not eligible for further credit reduction against their course of study. As part of its duty of care to patients and clients in NSW, anyone undertaking clinical placements in a NSW public health facility must provide evidence of a criminal record check conducted in their country of residence or a statutory declaration confirming no criminal record. Participation in screening and vaccination against infectious diseases is a prerequisite for clinical placements. Eligibility for admission does not guarantee an offer of a place. Applicants to the standard three-year course who have successfully completed a recognised pathway program in Australia can also apply.
